Jasmin Savoy Brown is set to reprise her role as Mindy Meeks-Martin.
Brown previously portrayed Mindy in Scream (2022) and Scream IV (2023), alongside Mason Gooding, who plays her brother, Chad.
In addition to Brown’s return, Deadline reported that Joel McHale has joined the cast as Mark Evans, Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) husband. McHale is currently filming the project in Atlanta.
According to Variety, McHale’s casting confirms that Patrick Dempsey, who played Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3, will not reprise his role in the upcoming installment.
While fans speculated that Kincaid had married Prescott, given her husband’s name “Mark” in previous films, Entertainment Weekly reported that Dempsey will not appear in Scream 7.
Moreover, Dempsey had previously expressed interest in returning, telling People in October 2023 that he was awaiting the script.
“If the opportunity opens itself up and it becomes a reality, then I’ll definitely take it seriously,” he said at the time.
As per Daily Mail, another major return is Courteney Cox, who will reprise her iconic role as Gale Weathers. A source confirmed her involvement to the outlet last month.
Furthermore, director Kevin Williamson recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Scream 7, calling it one of the “best days” of his life and paying tribute to the late Wes Craven, who launched the franchise.
It is worth mentioning that Williamson described the cast and crew as “amazing and talented” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Scream 7 is slated to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.
