White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday that a reported plan by Amazon to display the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs next to product prices on their site was a “hostile and political act” by the company.
Amazon later clarified that the team that runs its Haul store, the company’s version of Temu that sells goods for low prices, “considered the idea of listing import charges on certain products,” a spokesperson said. “This was never approved and is not going to happen.”
The news comes amid questions over the impact of Trump’s trade policies and increased tariffs on foreign imports into the United States.
