Ukraine blames US ‘silence’ for Russia’s largest aerial attack

Donald Trump calls Vladimir Putin ‘absolutely crazy’ after Russia launches record air attack on Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed the US’s “silence” for encouraging Russia to launch the largest air strikes on Ukraine.

According to BBC, Russia, during an overnight attack, launched the largest aerial attack on Ukraine, killing at least 12 people, including three children, and injuring dozens of others.

During widespread strikes across Ukraine, Russia fired 367 drones and missiles, which was the highest number in a single night since Putin launched a full-scale invasion in 2022.

These strikes came a day after Russia launched one of the heaviest attacks on the capital, Kyiv, in months.

US ‘silence’ encourages Russia to attack Ukraine

Following the record aerial attack from Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy slammed the United States for their “silence,” which encouraged President Vladimir Putin to launch such strikes.

In a post on Telegram on Sunday morning, Zelenskyy said, “Each such terrorist attack by Russia is a sufficient reason for new sanctions against Russia. Russia is dragging out this war and continues to kill every day.”

“The world may go on vacation, but the war continues, despite weekends and weekdays. This cannot be ignored. America’s silence, and the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin,” he continued.

Trump calls Putin crazy and slams Zelenskyy for doing ‘no favours’

US President Donald Trump also expressed his frustration with Putin after the attack, saying that they are in the middle of negotiations and he has shot rockets into Kyiv and other cities.

He told reporters on his way back to Washington D.C., “He’s killing a lot of people, and I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin. I’ve known him a long time. Always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all.”

The Republican president also criticised Zelenskyy in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, claiming that he was “doing his country no favours by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”

As per Ukraine’s Air Force, 367 aerial attack weapons, 69 missiles and 298 drones were launched across 22 locations in Ukraine overnight into Sunday. However, 47 of those missiles and 266 drones were intercepted.

Notably, Russia’s previous record-breaking aerial attack on Ukraine was last weekend when it launched 273 drones in a night.
