Indian doctor arrested in US for recording nude videos of women, children

Sherriff says extent of Aejaz’s crimes remains unclear, stating that it could take months to fully investigate

A 40-year-old Indian doctor, Oumair Aejaz, has been arrested and is being held in a US jail on a $2 million bond after being charged with multiple sex crimes. Aejaz is accused of secretly recording hundreds of nude images and videos of children and wpmen over several years, according to media reports.

Aejaz was arrested on August 8 after allegedly placing hidden cameras in various settings, including bathrooms, changing areas, hospital rooms, and his own home. These recordings involved children as young as two years old in various states of undress, Fox News reported.

Authorities were alerted to his actions after Aejaz’s wife came forward with disturbing materials. Before his arrest, Aejaz had no criminal history. He also allegedly recorded sexual encounters with multiple women who were either unconscious or asleep, according to the Oakland County Sheriff.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard noted that the extent of Aejaz’s crimes remains unclear, stating that it could take months to fully investigate. “The victimisation is so broad and the perversion so great, we’re just beginning to wrap our arms around it,” Bouchard said, calling the case “disturbing on so many levels.”

Comparing the scale of the criminal activity to that of Larry Nassar, the disgraced sports doctor convicted of abusing dozens of young women, Bouchard revealed that several search warrants have been executed since Aejaz’s arrest. These include the seizure of computers, phones, and 15 external storage devices. A single hard drive contained 13,000 videos, and authorities believe Aejaz may have uploaded content to cloud storage.

On August 13, Aejaz was formally charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity, four counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person, and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime. He is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated that Aejaz’s wife presented the concerning materials earlier this month, prompting the immediate execution of a search warrant. Investigators are continuing to sift through the “jarring, alarming images.”

McDonald also revealed that many of the allegations against Aejaz stem from an incident in 2023, where he allegedly recorded a mother and her children inside a changing room at the Goldfish Swimming Club. He is also believed to have assaulted patients in hospital rooms.

Aejaz’s work history includes employment at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township and Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. He moved to the US in 2011 on a work visa from India and completed his residency at Sinai Grace Hospital before spending time in Alabama. He returned to Michigan in 2018.

Given the large number of potential victims and the challenge of identifying them, police have provided an email address for the public to contact authorities.
