Will Johnson, the former Worship Pastor Director at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton, Michigan, was arrested on Friday after reportedly admitting to placing a hidden camera in a unisex bathroom on the church campus.
According to WILX News 10, the arrest came after a staff member discovered the camera on Friday, September 13. In an email to the congregation, the church leadership revealed that Johnson confessed to the act, leading to his immediate termination and arrest by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
In a statement, the church expressed deep shock and sorrow over the incident, emphasizing their commitment to the safety of the community. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this crime and violation of our community. The protection, safety, and privacy of every person who enters our church is our priority,” the statement read.
The church also announced it chose not to live stream services following the incident due to the sensitive nature of the situation and the need to care for their congregation. Craig Ryan, a church official, confirmed that although the camera was only found in one bathroom, all other facilities were being inspected to ensure no other devices were hidden.
