A surge of tropical moisture is set to move into Houston on Wednesday, increasing rain chances over the next several days.
**Wednesday’s Forecast**
Expect mild temperatures in the morning, with lows in the mid-70s and widespread clouds forming before sunrise. As temperatures rise to the low 80s, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop before noon. These storms may bring heavy rain, wind gusts over 40 mph, and frequent lightning. Rain chances will peak between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., while areas north and west of Houston might see temperatures near 90. Where storms occur, temperatures will reach the low-to-mid 80s before dropping into the 70s with rain.
**Expected Rainfall**
Rainfall totals of 1-3 inches are likely across the area through the weekend, with some storms dropping up to an inch quickly. The highest rain chances are on Thursday and Saturday, both at 70%. A cool front moving in Thursday will temporarily push the tropical moisture into the Gulf, but it is expected to return on Saturday as the front lifts northward, bringing moisture back over Houston.
**Halloween Trick-or-Treating Forecast**
It will likely be humid for Trick-or-Treat time on Halloween, but there’s a good chance rain will end earlier in the day, leaving skies clear by evening. Even if it’s dry, the ground will probably be damp. Temperatures should be rain-cooled and in the 70s by evening.
**Next Significant Cool-Down**
A strong cold front is expected by next Wednesday or Thursday, bringing cooler, more seasonal temperatures with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Some mornings may even dip into the 40s.
