A local librarian considers herself fortunate to be alive after a brutal attack in a downtown parking garage during her workday.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, just before 2 p.m., in the basement of the Chevron parking garage at 1400 Louisiana Street.
The librarian, an employee of Chevron, declined to speak on camera but gave an extensive account to ABC13. She described walking through the parking garage basement when an attacker appeared suddenly and struck her repeatedly over the head with a two-by-four.
The suspect, Dennis Glenn, allegedly assaulted the librarian and then struck another person’s work truck with the same piece of wood. He fled the scene but was apprehended shortly afterward by the Houston Police Department.
Records reveal that Glenn has a lengthy criminal history and documented mental health issues.
During his initial court appearance, the judge noted that due to Glenn’s previous convictions in Texas, he could face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life if convicted.
Chevron released the following statement:
“Chevron takes the safety and security of our people seriously. We are cooperating with local law enforcement and cannot comment further on any pending investigation or legal proceeding.”
