Suspect at large after woman was followed and shot in the face during a robbery attempt in Southeast Houston, HPD reports.

A woman is recovering in the hospital after being injured in a robbery attempt early Sunday morning in Southeast Houston. According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of the Gulf Freeway.

Lt. Riley reported that the woman had just arrived at her apartment complex after finishing work when an unidentified suspect allegedly followed her into the complex’s parking lot. The man then demanded money from her, and at some point, fired a weapon, striking her in the face.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction, and it is unclear if he managed to steal anything from the victim.

The woman managed to run inside her apartment and called the police. She was then transported to the hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

At this time, there is no description of the suspect.
