Gwyneth Paltrow slams Spotify Wrapped for misrepresenting her listening habits

Actress claims her Spotify Wrapped misrepresented her listening habits, adding to growing frustration with the feature

Gwyneth Paltrow has added her voice to the growing criticism of Spotify Wrapped, claiming that the platform misrepresented her listening habits in its annual year-end summary.

During a Q&A on her lifestyle brand Goop’s platform, Paltrow revealed that the data inaccurately listed Brazilian musician João Gilberto as her top artist, despite only occasionally playing his music at dinner parties.

Paltrow’s comments are part of a larger wave of frustration among Spotify users, including celebrities, who have raised concerns about the accuracy of their Wrapped results. Many users have taken to social media, arguing that their year-end summaries don’t reflect their true listening patterns. Some have specifically noted that artists like Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter appeared disproportionately in their results, despite not being frequent listens.

This controversy is not new for Spotify, which has faced similar backlash in the past. The criticism reached new heights in 2024 when rapper Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group and Spotify, accusing the companies of manipulating streaming data to favor Kendrick Lamar’s song ‘Not Like Us’ over his own music.

While Spotify denied the allegations, the dispute has contributed to growing concerns about the platform’s data accuracy and the influence of autoplay features on stream counts.
