Kiernan Shipka (The Last Showgirl) and Mckenna Grace (Scream 7) are set to star in The Nowhere Game, a survival thriller produced by Erik Feig’s Picturestart.
The film will be directed by David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell (The Djinn), based on a script by Alex Pototsky, which was featured on the 2023 Black List. WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group will oversee domestic sales, while WME Independent handles international rights at EFM.
The plot follows Carin (Grace) and Allie (Shipka), two friends whose road trip turns nightmarish when they are kidnapped and forced into a deadly survival game broadcast to an online audience. With limited supplies and no way to call for help, the women must navigate a hostile wilderness while evading their sadistic hunter. As they uncover eerie clues from past victims, they realize survival is nearly impossible—unless they turn the tables and become the predators themselves.
Shipka, who recently starred in Twisters and Longlegs, previously worked with Picturestart on Sweethearts, which landed at Max. Grace, soon to appear in Scream 7, was last seen in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Directors Charbonier and Powell are known for their indie horror hits The Boy Behind the Door and The Djinn. Picturestart recently had a Sundance success with Together, which sold to Neon for $17 million.
