Lady Gaga opens up about the joys and challenges of being a 38-year-old pop star

The Grammy and Oscar winner reflected on aging and community ahead of her new film release.

In a recent interview with Buzzfeed Canada, Lady Gaga candidly discussed what it means to embrace her role as a 38-year-old pop star.

While promoting her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga shared how she enjoys the complexities of aging in the industry and the importance of personal growth.

The singer, known for hits like “Bad Romance,” spoke about her excitement for the future, referencing her fiancé, Michael Polansky, and her hopes for family life.

“I am so happy to be in love, and I’m so excited to have a family, so that’s definitely number one,” Gaga stated. She also emphasized the significance of self-improvement, saying, “I really believe in the ability to grow as a person.”

Reflecting on her current stage in life, she added, “It’s kind of fun to embrace the challenge of being a 38-year-old pop star and figuring out who I want to be now and what I want to say because I really love women.” She also expressed her desire to remain an important voice in the entertainment world, declaring, “I really want to be a voice that deserves to be part of our community.”

Gaga also reminisced about writing The Manifesto of Little Monsters, which was part of her 2010 The Fame Monster album’s deluxe edition. She described her deep connection with fans and how entertainment has always been a source of comfort and protection for her.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set for release on Oct. 4, and Gaga’s companion album, Harlequin, drops Sept. 27.
