Netflix is set to release Titan: The OceanGate Disaster, a new documentary exploring the tragedy of the submersible that imploded in the North Atlantic during a deep dive to the Titanic wreck, causing the deaths of five people, including two Pakistanis.
Aboard the sub were Engro Corp Vice Chairman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.
The documentary, directed by Mark Monroe, will premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 6 before it begins streaming on June 11, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) reported. The feature is a project of the Story Syndicate team, which is responsible for previous projects such as Take Care of Maya, Gone Girls and Britney v Spears.
According to the streaming giant, the documentary “details how a bold vision ended in tragedy.”
Through a series of interviews, audio and video footage and testimonies, the documentary delves into the mindset of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and his resolve to become a leader in oceanic exploration, THR reported.

In the minute-and-a-half-long trailer, one interviewee said, “There was no way of knowing when Titan was going to fail, but it was a mathematical certainty that it would fail.”
Another individual commented, “I thought Stockton was a borderline psychopath. How do you manage a person like that who owns the company?” Someone else alleged that Rush only wanted “fame to fuel his ego.”
Previous voice recordings of the CEO could be heard echoing throughout the trailer. “I have no desire to die. I understand this risk. No one is dying under my watch,” were among some of the words presumably said by Rush.
Producers for Titan: The OceanGate Disaster include Monroe, Lily Garrison and Jon Bardin.
In June 2023, Titan, the submersible privately owned by US-based company OceanGate, imploded in the North Atlantic during a deep dive to the Titanic wreck.
All five people on board the recreational sub were killed when the vessel imploded, which is believed to have occurred during its June 18 descent. The sub’s failure was confirmed on June 22, 2023 ending a days-long rescue mission which captivated the world.
