Sabrina Carpenter added a playful twist to the finale of her U.S. Short n’ Sweet tour, humorously ‘arresting’ musician Jack Antonoff and actress Margaret Qualley during her performance. The moment occurred before she performed her song “Juno,” continuing a tradition Carpenter has embraced throughout her tour.
Looking toward Antonoff in the audience, Carpenter asked, “Who’s this gorgeous brunette here?” Fans erupted in screams as the cameras turned to Antonoff, who appeared visibly uncomfortable, waving awkwardly and struggling to smile. When Carpenter suggested he could bring someone “hotter” than him, Antonoff brought in Margaret Qualley, prompting even louder cheers.
Qualley joined in the fun, laughing and joking with Carpenter. When asked if she was the “hotter” person, Qualley replied affirmatively, earning a nod from Carpenter, who called her a “hottie with substance.” This playful remark referenced Qualley’s recent film, The Substance, in which she stars alongside Demi Moore. Qualley giggled, performed a kissing gesture to fans, and introduced herself when Carpenter asked her name.
Carpenter’s tradition of ‘arresting’ audience members before performing “Juno” has become a hallmark of her tour. While she typically selects fans, previous celebrity participants include Millie Bobby Brown, Rachel Sennott, and Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernandez.
