Samantha Irvin reveals real reason behind her abrupt WWE exit

Samantha Irvin reveals the real reason why she left WWE , despite excelling in the role

Former Monday Night Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin has officially departed from WWE, sharing her reasons for the decision in a candid post on her Instagram. Irvin, who reportedly earned a significant $350,000 per year, was known for memorable calls, including Cody Rhodes’ win at the 2024 Royal Rumble. Her sudden departure fueled speculation, with fans initially suggesting that she left to join her husband, former WWE star Ricochet, in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, Ricochet dismissed the rumors on Twitter, telling fans they could “rest easy,” as Irvin wouldn’t be joining AEW.

Another popular theory suggested that Irvin, who reached the semi-finals on America’s Got Talent under her real name Samantha Johnson, left WWE to pursue her music career. This speculation was reported by wrestling insider Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, who said Irvin’s decision might have been driven by her “outside projects.” Yet, Irvin clarified her true reasons on social media, writing, “I don’t even like announcing” and describing her role as merely a “way in.”

Irvin further elaborated, explaining her ambitions within WWE went beyond announcing, saying, “I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer.” Despite her success in the role, she admitted that the job didn’t align with her passions, adding, “I love watching the action, but I don’t love being an announcer.”

Irvin’s exit leaves WWE with a notable gap, with veteran announcer Lilian Garcia returning to fill her place. Fans and colleagues alike continue to praise Irvin for her unique style and contributions to the company.
