Tomball Independent School District (TISD) is a highly regarded public school system serving over 20,000 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 in the Greater Tomball area in Southeast Texas.
The district encompasses 83 square miles in northwest Harris County and southwest Montgomery County, and is located approximately 30 miles from downtown Houston.
The district has a reputation for excellence, being recognized as the #1 Best School District in Harris County and Houston Area by Niche in 2024. It has also been ranked as the #1 Best School District in Harris County. The district is one of four in Texas recognized by Solution Tree as a Model PLC District for its collaborative culture and high student achievement.

In recent years, Tomball ISD has seen significant growth and development. In 2021, voters approved Propositions A and B of Bond 2021, a $494.5 million bond program that will fund four new schools (two elementary, one intermediate, and a third high school) and facilities, including the purchase of the former BJ Services Headquarters building, now called the Eastside Complex. This complex will become the Tomball Innovation Center and is the new home for Tomball Star Academy.
The district also celebrated the opening of West Elementary, its 12th elementary school and a Bond 2021 project, during a ribbon cutting ceremony. The school is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to provide quality education to its growing student population.
