A man and a woman were injured in a crash in north Harris County early Monday morning, which deputies suspect was an intentional act linked to a domestic violence incident.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Aldine Bender Road. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the situation began with an argument between the couple. The man reportedly left their home, and the woman pursued him. Deputies said the woman, driving a black truck, allegedly rammed into the man’s white sedan, forcing it off the road and into an awning.
Both individuals were transported to the hospital. The man sustained injuries but is expected to recover, while the woman is in critical condition and required surgery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators also observed bullet holes on the side of the truck, though it remains unclear if they are connected to the domestic dispute.
The couple shares a young daughter who was home at the time and was unharmed, deputies noted.
Authorities said the woman may face a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as the investigation continues.
“If you can’t get along with your spouse, that’s one thing… We have a child that’s witnessing this and has to endure this type of violence regularly, I can only assume, because this level of violence usually doesn’t happen on the first incident,” Capt. Anthony McConnell commented. “Help is available—counselors, even divorce if necessary. There are plenty of people willing to support you.”
