Family and Friends Hold Vigil for Missing Kalie Goodwin, Five Months After Her Disappearance

It has been five months since Kalie Goodwin was reported missing, and her family, along with members of the Baytown community, continue to pray for her safe return.

On Saturday, family and friends of 29-year-old Kalie Goodwin gathered at Jenkins Park to hold a vigil, marking five months since she disappeared. The event was a heartfelt effort to raise awareness and keep hope alive. Kalie’s mother, Kaci Richardson, spoke to the crowd, emphasizing the importance of continuing the search for her daughter.

Wearing teal shirts adorned with Kalie’s photo, the group expressed a message of hope and determination, vowing never to give up on finding her.

“Thank you so much for loving Kalie and for recognizing the beautiful soul that she is,” Richardson said to those in attendance.

Standing by Richardson’s side was Donna Shaw, a mother brought together with her in shared grief. Shaw’s daughter, 24-year-old Megan Rouse, was murdered just 12 days after Kalie disappeared.

“My daughter was just like Kalie. They were beautiful children, and they never deserved what happened to them,” Shaw said tearfully.

The man charged with Rouse’s murder is 39-year-old Quan ‘Country’ Flowers, who is currently in the Harris County Jail. While Baytown police have previously mentioned Flowers as a person of interest in Goodwin’s case, records show no formal charges related to her disappearance.

Goodwin’s family recalled receiving a chilling phone call on April 22 from a man demanding $600 through CashApp. In the background, Kalie could be heard pleading for help, saying, “Mom, help me. They’re beating me, my face is deformed.”

According to Baytown police, the night before her disappearance, Goodwin was last seen at her apartment complex on Decker Drive near San Jacinto Avenue. Investigators believe she left with an unidentified man in a vehicle later linked to Flowers, who was arrested after a traffic stop unrelated to her case.

Digital forensics traced both Goodwin’s phone and the phone connected to the CashApp request to a residence in Houston. There, evidence of an assault was discovered, but the homeowner was arrested on unrelated charges.

Flowers is scheduled to appear in court for the Rouse murder charge on October 10, while police continue their search for answers in Goodwin’s case. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
