Police have not yet identified any suspects after a woman was fatally shot inside a southwest Houston liquor store on Tuesday.
The victim, 29-year-old Tikisha King, was a manager at Ralston Discount Liquor on South Post Oak, near West Fuqua, according to family and friends.
Investigators report that another employee discovered King’s body around 12:45 p.m., finding her with multiple gunshot wounds.
“She was a hard worker. She had goals,” said Destiny Bradley, a friend of King’s since elementary school, who helped her get the job at the liquor store nearly two years ago.
Bradley shared that King was her confidante. “She took so many secrets to the grave. I used to tell her all my business, so she was my secret holder,” she said.
Customers described King as well-liked and found it hard to believe anyone would want to harm her.
“That’s senseless,” one customer said.
“She didn’t have any enemies. Nobody would harm her. She didn’t have those kinds of problems,” Bradley added.
However, Bradley mentioned that King had recently ended a relationship and wasn’t sure how her ex-boyfriend reacted to the breakup.
“She didn’t want to be with him. She had someone else in her life, so she told him she didn’t want a relationship with him,” Bradley explained.
Police have not confirmed whether King’s death involved someone close to her.
“We’re still investigating all possibilities,” Officer Robyn Barcak stated.
Friends noted that at the time of her death, King was still grieving the loss of an ex-boyfriend, who had died in another shooting three years prior.
“She was still taking it hard,” Bradley said.
