No injuries were reported after a bullet hit a Southwest Airlines plane at a Dallas airport, according to the airline.

A Southwest Airlines plane preparing for departure from a Dallas airport was struck by a bullet, leading to the cancellation of the Friday evening flight, the airline said.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. when the Boeing 737-800, operating as Flight 2494, was taxiing at Dallas Love Field Airport. The bullet hit the right side of the aircraft near the cockpit, just below the flight deck. At the time, the crew was preparing for departure to Indianapolis International Airport, Southwest said in a statement.

No injuries were reported, and law enforcement was contacted. The plane returned to the gate, and all passengers exited safely, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The aircraft was subsequently removed from service, and Southwest arranged an alternative flight for the passengers.

Dallas Love Field Airport confirmed in a social media post that the Dallas Police Department responded to the incident. Runway 13R/31L was briefly closed but reopened later Friday night with “minimal impact” on airport operations.
