A large warehouse fire burning near Bingle Road and Highway 290 in northwest Houston is visible from miles away. The Houston Fire Department responded to the scene just after 3 p.m. on Thursday to find heavy smoke and flames.
SkyEye footage shows massive plumes of smoke filling the air. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.
Houston Fire Department spokesperson Brent Taylor said that firefighting efforts have been challenging due to pallets, debris, and a large truck obstructing access to parts of the fire.
Taylor confirmed that over 100 firefighters and arson investigators are on the scene. “Air quality and water quality are being monitored,” he said. “There’s no indication of any need for shelter-in-place or concerns about hazardous materials at this time.”
Authorities believe the building contains furniture stock, and the fire appears to be affecting both the interior and exterior of the building. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
