The Houston hip-hop artist was celebrated in a unique funeral with music and dancing, fulfilling his final wish.
Houston hip-hop artist and producer Justin “BeatKing” Riley was commemorated with a unique Celebration of Life, honoring his final wishes for a lively and joyful send-off.
Known for his energetic club beats, BeatKing had requested that his funeral be a celebration filled with loud music and dancing rather than a somber occasion. On August 29th, 2024, the City of Houston fulfilled his wishes with a tribute that included food, music, and celebrations of his legacy.
BeatKing, who rose to fame with his 2010 album ‘Kings of the Club’, tragically passed away from a pulmonary embolism—a blood clot in the lung—at a Houston hospital on August 22nd.
His manager, Tasha Felder, confirmed that BeatKing fainted while at an Urban One station before being taken to the hospital, where he later died. His daughters were by his side throughout the ordeal. The hip-hop community mourned his death as tributes poured in from across the country.
