Pakistan, which was once called Asian Tiger, is today a jungle with no law around. No national institution or department is working within its legal domain. If one wants to see the physical demonstration of ‘might is right’, he must visit today’s Pakistan.
From parliament to judiciary and from executive to media, all are flying so high that no rules and regulations can challenge them in the face of any wrong. The leaders of the most popular political party PTI, including its founding chairman Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi, have been in jail for about two years and courts are not even taking up their cases, let alone relief for them. The governments in the Centre and all provinces, except Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are being run by puppet politicians who were genuinely rejected in the last general elections held on February 8, 2024. Media is under such a tight control as was not witnessed even during martial laws imposed in Pakistan since 1958. In sum, the country is almost a total failure.
The crossroads where Pakistan is standing today had repeatedly been predicted by political and financial pundits long ago, but nobody in the helm of this country’s affairs cared about. Pakistan’s total public debt is estimated to be around Rs 76,007 billion (about $271 billion). This includes both domestic and external debt. Specifically, domestic debt is around Rs 51,518 billion, and external debt is around Rs 24,489 billion. The debt situation is a significant concern, with its debt-to-GDP ratio hovering around 74.3pc. This ratio indicates the total public debt relative to the country’s gross domestic product. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, Pakistan’s total public debt and liabilities were reported at Rs 62.881 trillion. More than half of the country’s total revenue is being spent on debt servicing, but the government is still looking for further IMF tranches to service debt and meet everyday needs. In view of its gigantic debt and shattering socio-political structure, how this country is still moving on is the million dollar question.
Pakistan – meaning the land of pure‑ was created in the name of Kalma. It was theoretically for the Muslims who were pure. It is nothing but an irony of fate that the most impure among Muslims now inhabit this country. There is a famous maxim that the behaviour of any land’s inhabitants is gauged from its traffic. And the ugly traffic in all Pakistani cities and towns is no secret. Not to speak of those who do rash driving and meet accidents even those few Pakistanis who are still law-abiding have to face accidents because of the mistakes of others. The instance is, one can drive carefully, but what can he do if a rashly-driven vehicle comes into him and knocks him down. And it often happens in Pakistan. The writer himself is a victim.
Established in the name of Kalma Tayyaba, Pakistan is now factually bankrupt and can default on its burgeoning debts anytime. Renowned Pakistani economist Qaisar Bengali had predicted a year ago that the default was imminent and he gave all the statistics proving the direction to default. What would happen with the sanctity of Kalma if this country does not survive? As Muslims, it is our faith that our Kalma is impeccable, and so Pakistan. But all the worldly laws are pointing to this country’s collapse. Even scientists are saying this. They are of the view that a climate catastrophe is happening all over the world, especially in Pakistan. It is the most polluted country on the globe. All signs are for disaster, but where our faith as Muslims will go. This country came into being on the 27th night of Ramazan – another spiritual sign leading to prosperity, the first being Kalma. Our elders have been telling us that they got Pakistan after raising the slogan Pakistan Ka Matlab Kaya La Ilaha Ilallah. But the ground realty is totally disappointing. Now it is a clash between the Kalma believers and economists or scientists. Who will prove to be true, it can be seen both ways. But faith is stronger than reason.
There are only two countries in the world that have their foundations on religion. First is Pakistan and the second is Israel. Both the countries are in clash. One says it is based on the true foundations, with the combination of Allah and Muhammad (PBUH). It is Pakistan – the Kalma believers. And the second – Israel – says it is with the combination of God and Moses (AS) and it is the best combination. Which one of these two is true. It is going to be proved in the time not far off. Muslims do believe in all prophets, but the Qur’an categorically overrules all heavenly books arrived before and says leave everything now and come to the Qur’an. It is the final and only book of God which is followable because of being in an unaltered form. The true Pakistanis are committed to the Qur’an and Kalma Tayyaba. They believe their country is going to live forever like Kalma, but the Zionists believe they are the ultimate winners. All reasoning, whether financial or administrative, goes against Pakistan as Israel is so rich that it has set its own poverty standards, rejecting the ones set by the UN. Its per capita income is much better than the one sought by the UN for all peoples on the globe.
A true Pakistani believes that his country is a gift from God and is to live in all times to come. Be there any statistics pointing at its collapse, the country will survive the test because its existence is based on Kalma which is inerasable. God will enliven it. And if this country is to end, it will be end of times.
