Alex Pereira ready for immediate rematch against Ankalaev after UFC 313 loss

Pereira offers 'no excuses' for UFC 313 loss against Ankalaev, eyeing immediate rematch this year to reclaim title.

Alex Pereira is already in discussions for an immediate rematch after losing his UFC light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313.

Pereira (12-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was defeated by unanimous decision in Saturday’s main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, marking the end of his reign as champion. Despite successfully defending all 12 of Ankalaev’s takedown attempts, Pereira expressed frustration over his opponent’s approach.

“Of course, it’s not the result I wanted,” Pereira said on his YouTube channel. “We were confident for this fight. I was well. I trained hard. Some things happened, of course, but I don’t want to give excuses. I know we’ll have the rematch.”

Pereira has yet to review the fight but noted that many people questioned the decision. “I haven’t watched the fight yet. I’ll watch to have my opinion, (because) it’s hard to have an idea when you’re in there.”

UFC CEO Dana White confirmed that a rematch is likely, and Ankalaev (21-1-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) is also preparing for another showdown.

“I’m ready for Round 6, but this time will not go for full distance,” Ankalaev posted on X.

With both fighters open to running it back, Pereira could soon get his shot at reclaiming the title.
