Manchester City secured a dominant 4-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday in the Premier League, claiming their first back-to-back wins since October.
The comprehensive performance, highlighted by a brace from Erling Haaland, saw City leapfrog to sixth in the table with 34 points, though they remain 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand.
West Ham, coming off a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, sit in 13th place with 23 points.
Savinho, who netted his first goal for City in their 2-0 win over Leicester last Sunday, turned provider at Etihad Stadium, assisting on three goals. His low shot in the 10th minute was deflected off West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal, putting City in front early.
City’s control continued, and in the 58th minute, Phil Foden extended the lead when Kevin De Bruyne intercepted a poor pass from Mohammed Kudus and squared the ball to Foden for a simple tap-in.
West Ham managed to grab a late consolation goal through Niclas Fullkrug, but it did little to mitigate their disappointing performance.
West Ham had chances, particularly in the first half, with Kudus missing a close-range effort early on. Kudus also provided a dangerous cutback to Tomas Soucek, but the midfielder’s shot was wide.
Despite registering 17 attempts compared to City’s 10, West Ham could only muster four shots on target, with City having seven.
This was only the second time this season that Manchester City scored four goals in a Premier League match, the first being their 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
West Ham, struggling defensively, have now conceded three or more goals in eight league games, the worst record alongside bottom-placed Southampton.
