Pakistan make Asia Cup history with 10-wicket win over UAE women

This is second time Pakistan got 10-wicket win as earlier they defeated Ireland by 10 wickets 11 years ago

Pakistan women’s cricket became the only team in the history of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup to win a game by ten wickets for the second time.

This is the second such victory for the Green Shirts which they grabbed 11 years after defeating Ireland by ten wickets. Earlier, the feat of nine-wicket victory was achieved eight different times by several teams.

This was a must-win game for the Girls in Green who overpowered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) women by 10 wickets at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium today.

It was the second win for the Pakistan team in the ongoing tournament owing to an all-round performance. Pakistan lost their first match of the tournament to India. The Green Shirts have one step in the semi-final with four points from two victories.

In today’s match, Pakistan opening duo of Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali successfully chased the target of 104 runs in just 14.1 overs, with 35 balls remaining.

Feroza scored a half-century with 55-ball 62, hitting eight fours while Muneeba played 30 balls to contribute 37 runs, with the help of four boundaries.

The amazing performance by the openers made Pakistan the only team in the history of ongoing cricket tournament to have got 10-wicket win. The openers also became the first Pakistani pair to twice hit a century in partnership.

Nepal are currently playing India in the last match of Group A today and the Green Shirts require the Blues to beat their opponents to ensure a secure entry into the semi-finals.

Earlier, Pakistan, winning the toss, put the UAE women in to bat first. However, they could not have a great start as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Skipper Esha Oza (16 off 26) and Theertha Satish (40 off 36) were the top two scorers for UAE as only Khushi Sharma (12 off 13) managed to contribute runs in double figures.

For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu and Tuba Hassan took two wickets each while skipper Nida Dar managed to get one.
