Two NASA astronauts aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft may remain stranded at the International Space Station (ISS) until early 2025 due to issues with the spacecraft’s hardware.
The mission, initially planned for eight days, has been extended indefinitely. Boeing has indicated that if NASA decides to change the mission, the company will take necessary actions to configure Starliner for an uncrewed return.
The astronauts’ extended stay has sparked discussions about Boeing’s safety and reliability, with some users expressing sympathy for the astronauts and others criticizing Boeing’s handling of the situation.
NASA is also working with SpaceX on plans to return the astronauts to Earth in the event that they are unable to travel on the troubled Boeing craft.
