Trump’s inauguration: Here’s what you need to know

Trump will be sworn in for his second term on Monday, marking the transfer of power in the US.

President-elect Donald Trump will take oath on Monday, officially beginning his second term in office.

The inauguration ceremony will mark the transfer of power from the Biden administration to the Trump administration, with the president-elect taking the oath of office at noon, as stipulated by the 20th Amendment of the US Constitution.

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, led by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, has organized the events for the day.

These include the procession to the Capitol, the vice president’s swearing-in, Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, the inaugural address, the honorary departure of the outgoing president and vice president, a signing ceremony, the inaugural luncheon, a military review, and the presidential parade, which will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington due to expected cold temperatures.

The theme of this year’s ceremonies is “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise.”

The events will begin at 9:00pm (PST) with a musical prelude performed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Combined Choirs and “The President’s Own” US Marine Band. Following this, Timothy Cardinal Dolan and Rev.

Franklin Graham will deliver the invocation. Christopher Macchio, an opera singer, will perform “Oh, America!”

Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will administer the vice presidential oath to JD Vance, before country singer Carrie Underwood, the Armed Forces Chorus, and the US.

Naval Academy Glee Club perform “America the Beautiful.” Chief Justice John Roberts will then administer the presidential oath to Trump. The Naval Academy Glee Club will return to sing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and Trump will deliver his inaugural address.

The ceremony will conclude with a benediction from religious leaders and the National Anthem, performed by Macchio.
