Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich has come under fire from President Donald Trump following a series of pointed questions about his promotion of Tesla and his ongoing approach to Russia.
During a March 16 segment on Fox News, Heinrich asked Republican Senator Bernie Moreno whether it was appropriate for Trump to inspect Tesla vehicles, including a Cybertruck, on the White House lawn and express plans to buy one. Tesla had delivered five vehicles for the president to personally review.
On the same broadcast, she pressed National Security Adviser Mike Waltz over Trump’s relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, particularly in the context of ceasefire efforts in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Heinrich cited a European intelligence report suggesting the Kremlin may be using negotiations to stall progress, asking:
“How do you know President Trump isn’t being played right now by Putin?”
Waltz dismissed the suggestion, saying it was “almost laughable” and defended Trump’s record on foreign policy.
Trump later responded on Truth Social on March 20, writing:
“I watched Jacqui Heinrich from Fox over the weekend and I thought she was absolutely terrible. She should be working for CNN, not Fox. Not surprisingly, I later found out that she’s a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!”
Background on Jacqui Heinrich
Heinrich currently serves as a senior White House correspondent for Fox News. A graduate of the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, she joined Fox in 2018 after working at Boston 25 News. Her reporting has included coverage of the 2020 presidential election, congressional affairs, and now the Trump administration.
She has faced internal tensions at Fox News before. During the 2020 election cycle, when Heinrich fact-checked one of Trump’s tweets about Dominion voting machines, she reportedly drew the ire of network stars Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity. According to court documents from Dominion’s defamation lawsuit against Fox, both hosts privately pushed for her removal. The network later settled the case for nearly $800 million in 2023.
Personal life
Public details about Heinrich’s personal life remain limited. She was previously in a relationship with musician Franklin Sahlhoff, though it’s unclear whether the two remain together. She has more recently been spotted attending events with Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, with whom she has shared photos since 2022.
While Heinrich’s questions have stirred controversy, they reflect the ongoing tensions between Trump and parts of the media—even within traditionally supportive networks like Fox News.
