Hacking group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for a large-scale cyberattack on Russian networks, releasing what it says is 10 terabytes of leaked data containing sensitive information on political figures, state-affiliated businesses, Kremlin assets abroad, and even files allegedly linked to US President Donald Trump.
The data was released on 15 April and announced publicly via the group’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter. In the post, Anonymous stated: “In defence of Ukraine Anonymous has released 10TB of leaked data on all businesses operating in Russia, all Kremlin assets in the West, pro-Russian officials, Donald Trump, and more.”
Accompanying the post was a photo of file folders, one of which was labelled “Leaked Data of Donald Trump.”
While the group did not provide details on the contents, the inclusion has drawn widespread attention amid ongoing criticism of President Trump’s foreign policy decisions.

Anonymous, which operates without a formal leadership structure, has a long history of what it calls “hacktivism”—cyberattacks intended to expose or disrupt entities viewed as corrupt, oppressive, or dangerous.
The group first declared a cyberwar on Russia in 2022, shortly after Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
This latest operation is one of the most extensive claimed by Anonymous in recent years. Cybersecurity analysts say that while the full impact of the leaked data is still unclear, the sheer volume—10 terabytes—suggests a significant breach that could affect diplomatic and economic networks tied to Russia.
Some of the data reportedly reveals affiliations between Russian businesses and foreign operations, exposing financial transactions and the identities of pro-Kremlin officials with ties to assets in Western countries.
While the Russian government has not officially responded, analysts suggest internal reviews are likely under way to assess the scope of the exposure.
The leak also arrives at a time of renewed global scrutiny of Trump’s foreign dealings. In recent months, Anonymous has stepped up criticism of the Trump administration, accusing the president of working against the interests of Ukraine and undermining global democratic norms.
In a recent post, the group said: “Trump is actively working against Ukraine. He is on the side of Russia. Don’t think for a moment that his goal is to help Europe, Ukrainians, or US security. He is here to do a job and that job is to weaken and ultimately destroy global democracy, international law, and you.”
No additional threats or follow-up leaks have been issued by Anonymous.
The group remains active on social media, continuing to post commentary related to the war in Ukraine and geopolitical developments involving Russia and the West.
The long-term implications of this cyberattack remain uncertain, but the incident reinforces Anonymous’ ongoing digital campaign against the Kremlin and its allies, both political and corporate.
