Who is Marni Washington? FEMA official fired for instructing workers to avoid homes with Trump signs

Florida Governor is investigating FEMA after reports that an official told workers to skip homes with Trump signs.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has reportedly launched an investigation into the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after revelations that a FEMA official allegedly instructed workers to avoid assessing homes with Donald Trump signs in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.

According to the Daily Wire, it has been confirmed that Marn’i Washington, a FEMA official, was responsible for the directive.

Reports indicate that Washington communicated the instruction both verbally and through a Microsoft Teams chat to relief workers canvassing homes in Lake Placid last month. She allegedly included in a memo: “Avoid homes advertising Trump.”

This directive was reportedly the second point in a list of instructions given to workers. Other guidance included not going “anywhere alone,” staying hydrated, adhering to rules, and using “de-escalation” techniques.

FEMA confirmed that at least 20 homes displaying Trump signs or flags were excluded from assessments, attributing it to the election season. Their tracking system recorded messages left by workers, stating, “Trump sign no entry per leadership.”

A screenshot of Washington’s LinkedIn profile indicates she works as an emergency management specialist with FEMA. Previously, she was the owner of Olam Industries LLC and served as the Bay Area Regional Manager at Avanath Capital Management, LLC.

The incident sparked outrage online, with several internet users expressing their dissatisfaction. Comments included: “Whoever gave those orders should be arrested or at the very least sued,” shared one X user.

“Wow, lawsuit coming and FEMA should be dismantled,” another internet user commented.

“Holy sh*t. Someone needs to go to jail,” added a netizen.

At the time of writing, President-elect Donald Trump had not publicly commented on the situation, nor had Marn’i Washington. Additional reactions included: “I have this really strong feeling that justice is coming for all of those bast*rds,” an X user remarked.

“Disgusting. These agencies need to be gutted,” said another user.

“Who made this order? They need to be brought before Congress, immediately,” stated a netizen.
