Do the Palestinians believe in the same religion of Islam as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE? If yes, why are these top Islamic countries not heeding thousands of killings of Muslim Palestinians, just in their neighbourhood? Islam says Muslims are like one body. If there is pain in one part, the whole body aches. But in this case, the body is not aching, but rather it is rubbing salt into wounds.
The Arab world has pledged hundreds of dollars’ investment for the US during Donald Trump’s 3-leg tour of the Mideast starting from Saudi Arabia on May 13, 2025. The nearly $800 billion investment has been announced for a country which is directly involved in the killing of thousands of innocent Palestinians at the hands of Israel. The investment will be coming from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE. There is nothing hidden in US ties with Israel which has been on the killing spree in Gaza since October 7, 2023, enjoying the unlimited US support to do whatever it can. Not to speak of non-Muslims even the Muslims are preferring trade to Muslim blood. It is nothing but an irony which is speaking louder than words. It is no less important to tell that Trump, on the one hand, is claiming to be anti-war and negotiating peace between Russia and Ukraine as he did for Pakistan and India and, on the other, has approved bombs and military equipment worth $20 billion for Israel. What the hell he is doing, by being anti-war to some and being pro-war to others. He is definitely a fake.
Trump´s Middle East tour started from Saudi Arabia ‑ the same place he began his debut overseas trip in his first term in 2017. But on that occasion, he also visited Israel, whereas this time it was not on the itinerary. His decision to once more bypass traditional Western allies to visit the oil-rich Gulf states underscored their pivotal geopolitical role as well as his own business ties there.
Palestine has been bleeding for 17 months with almost 53,000 deaths and over 100,000 injuries till now. Nobody is being spared by a hegemonic Israel, not even little innocent children, women and the elderly. But over half of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation are still having the same diplomatic ties with Israel as in the past. Though they are called Muslim countries, in fact, they are not. They don’t have anything to do with Muslim brotherhood. They are interested only in monetary interests. The words Islam or Muslims are meaningless for them. That’s why the world recently saw UAE girls with dancing hair during a welcome to Donald Trump in Abu Dhabi on May 15. This is the same UAE which recognized Israel in 2020 and established diplomatic relations with it. Saudi Arabia was then going to follow it, but was stopped by an unexpected Hamas attack on Israel.
The whole world is witness when Israel was killing Palestinians, Saudi Muslims were holding music concerts and dance parties. And all this is still on, the latest example is the UAE girls doing a satanic dance for a person who is the top ally of the Muslim-killer state of Israel. Turkey is not far off. At the beginning of Gaza war, Recep Tayyip Erdogan tried to make some ‘score’ by warning Israel at a public rally, but then went silent once and for all. The same is the case with all other Islamic countries including Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia. In the beginning, they all paid lip service. Now they even don’t do it. Palestinians are hanging around the slaughter, and there is nobody to help them, not even the Hamas, the Hezbollah, the Houthis and their patron Iran. All are shamelessly quiet, standing as spectators over the bodies littering the holy land of Palestine.
If the Muslim countries can’t do anything physically to help the Palestinians, they can at least call their envoys back from Tel Aviv or throw Israeli envoys out of their countries in protest. But there is nothing like that as they are not concerned about fellow Muslims, not to talk of general humanity. What a joke it was when the Erdogan government once decided to remove Israeli products from the cafeteria of the Turkish parliament in protest against the Zionist aggression. But this product boycott was only limited to the parliament cafeteria, leaving the whole country open for Jewish produce. Turkey otherwise was and is pro-Israel. In Pakistan, people initially boycotted Israeli products, but as the war prolonged, they also forgot their ‘boycott-Israel’ motto. Despite being the sole Muslim atomic power in the world, Pakistan officially did nothing, not even a feeble warning like Erdogan. As regards Iran, it is helpless and its slogans have gone hollow, especially after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, 2024. But how long can the Iran government prolong its existence by just hurling threats and slogans? It must write it down that it is the ultimate and final target of Israel. It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when!
Equally guilty in this context is the West which has always been claiming to be the champion of human rights. They are not even able to force Israel to open the passage for delivering medical and food aid to the 2.3 million Palestinians living in rubble and under the open sky. Every other day, there are appeals by UN and philanthropist aid bodies that the Palestinians are also dying of hunger and fatigue besides bombs, but the appeals fall on deaf ears of Israel, the US and the West. Why? Are the human rights only enjoyed by those who are in power? Don’t the poor and victimized have any share in this realm.
Ironically, the most vociferous protests against Israel in the West were led by none else but Jews themselves. Yes they were the Jewish Voice for Peace and the enditnow. These organizations have their offices in almost all European countries. They have been staging demonstrations against the occupying designs of Israel and faced maximum arrests in Europe and America in their pursuit for peace. Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen is one of them.
He was arrested on April 16 for urging US senators to press Israel to let food reach “starving kids” as he was led away. “It got to a point where we had to do something,” Cohen said in an interview after his release, calling it “scandalizing” that the US approved “$20 billion worth of bombs” for Israel even as social programmes are squeezed back home.
